MEET THE CHAMPION: NINJA

RAID: Shadow Legends features a plethora of Champions to choose from, with some only available for a limited time. Ninja is the one of these more exclusive RAID Champions, having only been up for grabs for a couple of months as part of the Ninja Hunt event in 2021. This amazing Champion is based on his namesake – the streamer, YouTuber, and professional gamer Ninja.

Here’s his backstory in RAID: A blue-haired foundling raised by the disciples of Charn-Yo, Ninja was a precocious child. He picked up the school’s techniques with such dedication and alacrity that the school’s masters soon realized he was their best chance yet to realize the full potential of the Charn-Yo arts.

Tapping into his very life-force and bringing forth a brilliant blue spirit-energy of his own, Ninja gained mastery over blade and bow, creating his own inimitable fighting style and ascending beyond his masters’ teaching. Ninja set out into the world, his spectacular deeds of heroism fuelling fantastical tales ever since.

WHY PLAY NINJA IN RAID: SHADOW LEGENDS?

Ninja is a powerful warrior, and was a game-changing RAID Champion when he was first released. To this day, Ninja appears in almost all top RAID: Shadow Legends teams, meting out helpful debuffs that can control a team and increase his own already impressive damage.

HOW TO GET NINJA IN RAID: SHADOW LEGENDS?

Ninja was a time-limited Champion who was only available during the Ninja Hunt event, which ran from July 16 2021 to October 15 2021. During this time, players had to simply log in on seven different days to get Ninja for free. As this event has long since ended, there is currently no other way for players to get Ninja in-game.

WHAT ARE NINJA’S SKILLS?

Ninja’s skills combine to make him a great damage dealer as well as a potent source of debuffs. With this RAID Champion in your roster, you have the following skills at your disposal:

• Shatterbolt – Attacks 1 enemy. Has a 45% chance of placing a 60% Decrease DEF debuff for 2 turns. Also fills this Champion’s Turn Meter by 15% when used against Bosses.
• Hailburn – Attacks 3 times at random. Each hit has a 75% chance of placing a HP Burn debuff for 3 turns. A places a Perfect Veil buff on this Champion for 2 turns. When used against Bosses, will instantly activate any HP Burn debuffs, including HP Burn debuffs placed by this skill.
• Cyan Slash – Attacks all enemies. Has a 75% chance of placing a Freeze debuff for 1 turn. When targeting a Boss, will only attack the Boss (not all enemies) and will ignore 50% of the target’s DEF. Will also decrease the cooldown of the Hailburn skill by 1 turn.
• Escalation (Passive) – Increases Ninja’s ATK by 10% (up to 100%) and C. DMG by 5% (up to 25%) each time a single enemy is hit by all three on Ninja’s Active Skills in a single Round. This effect can occur multiple times against the same enemy. When fighting Bosses, will increase Ninja’s ATK by 20% (up to 100%) and C. DMG by 10% (up to 25%) instead.

NINJA RECOMMENDATIONS

There are three key areas to pay attention to when playing any Champion: Masteries, Gear, and Blessings. To keep Ninja on top of his damage-dealing and debuffing game, take a look at our recommendations below.

MASTERIES

As an Attack-type Champion, you’ll definitely want to focus on the Offense Mastery Tree for Ninja. Depending on whether you’re building him for PvP or PvE content primarily will dictate which Masteries you want to focus on specifically. For instance, a PvP-focused Ninja would benefit from Shield Breaker, Single Out, and Helmsmasher, whereas a PvE-focused Ninja would benefit from Lifedrinker, Bring It Down, and Warmaster.

Ninja’s skills allow him to place debuffs such as Freeze, HP Burn, and Decrease DEF. Landing these helps increase Ninja’s effectiveness in battle, so working down the Support Mastery Tree for more Accuracy. Start with Pinpoint Accuracy and Charged Focus, before getting Swarm Smiter and Sniper later on.

GEAR

With Ninja primarily functioning as a damage dealer, you can build him in the usual combination of Savage and Cruel Artifacts to help ignore defenses and deal massive amounts of damage. However, for those who are seeking to use Ninja for his debuffs, there is also Accuracy to consider, and Speed is almost always helpful. A great combination of these is the Perception Set, or you could simply focus the Accuracy and Speed Sets themselves. Stat priorities should be Attack, Critical Damage, at least 100% Critical Rate, Accuracy, and Speed.

BLESSINGS

Ninja should use either the Brimstone or Phantom Touch Blessing to maximize his effectiveness as a damage dealer. Both of these can work for multiple game modes, including both PvE and PvP.

NINJA TACTICS

Ninja is a quality damage dealer and debuffer rolled into one. He’s a great addition to any team – provided he can get enough protection from ally Support and HP Champions. If you can bump his numbers up and get those all-important Decrease DEF, HP Burn, and Freeze debuffs out (as well as his passive ATK and C. DMG stacks), Ninja is a mighty Champion worthy of a place in any team.

DUNGEONS

Ninja is great for Dungeons – both for dealing with the waves and the Bosses. To be more specific, his Attack and Critical Damage increases are great when fighting Bosses, while his crowd control debuffs are great for dealing with waves of enemies getting to the Bosses.

DOOM TOWER

As demonstrated above, Ninja’s skillset makes him great for dealing with both wave-based encounters and high MAX HP Bosses. He shines in all areas of Doom Tower – except for Magma Dragon, who is better dealt with by Champions with Spirit affinity as well as those able to use Provoke.

FACTION WARS

Ninja is arguably one of the best – if not the best – damage dealers in the Shadowkin Faction. If you can keep him alive, he’s great for clearing waves and helping get those stars.
